Brought some wines to the Journal Club last night and one of them surprised me, a 2022 Hugel Gentil white blend. I only have this wine because I have a friend who is very particular and only drinks Pinot Gris and unoaked Chardonnays and I bought several Hugel Pinot Gris's to be hospitable when she and her husband come for a visit. While grabbing the Pinot Gris, I grabbed this because it was a Pinot Gris blend and I thought it might be interesting and I often try to expand her palate to no avail. Anyways, while it was not complex it was lovely stone fruit and exotic fruit on the nose and palate with enough acidity to make it fresh and light but not overwhelm. It also has a light touch of residual sugar that integrated everything. A complete crowd pleaser and easy drinker and <$20 to boot. If you've never had wine from Alsace, France you might give this a try. I'm having the rest of the bottle with dinner tonight!
